I bought this for my fiancé to wear over his business shirts to work. He is 6'4" and usually wears a 44" chest sweater or coat, but I read so many reviews that said to size up one, so I did and it was far too big! I returned and bought his usual 44" and it fit perfectly, even on his long arms and torso, and there is really ample space in the sweater arms and body to wear over a button-up shirt, so, no need to size up (unless you have a fat belly, then I can see maybe why you'd want to size up) because it is already slightly baggy even when buying one's usual size. The only reason I gave a four instead of five is because though this is cashmere, it is not as soft as cashmere should be, but it is thick enough and seems well enough made.

I ordered one size larger than normal, but the fit was too slim to be comfortable. Did not wish to go two sizes larger since the sleeves would be too long? I thus regretably returned the item, which was made expertly of beautifully soft cashmere.

Right out of the box it's clear that this is anything but a bargain basement cashmere sweater, although the price would portend that. It is well tailored, substantial, quite warm,-in short, top quality.

Johnstons offers decent quality, but their sizing is trim. I wear 46 long and routinely need to buy their 48s, and even then they don't work well over a starched or bulky collared shirt. Fine for layering over a polo or tee shirt.

Jonhston is well known for high quality products and this seems no exception. Haven't worn yet or cleaned yet but expect based on past experience to be fully satisfied.
