Kakadu Cambridge Jacket - Waxed Cotton Oilcloth (For Men and Women)

I was very excited to get this jacket, even after reading all the reviews about the poor hood design. Those reviews are true, the hood just will not stay on no-matter-what. After wearing the jacket five or six times, the zipper started to separate. [...] I decided to keep the jacket and use the buttons (rather than the zipper) because I just couldn't find a waxed cotton jacket for this price. The jacket is heavy-duty and looks like it will hold up, but the zipper and hood issues are a major disappointment. Other issues include a lack of pockets on the breast of the jacket.

As with some previous reviews, the jacket is great but the zipper is terribly hard to use. It will quit raining before I get the zipper to work. Best to use the snaps.

Fantastic for a rainy fall day. Rain beads up on it, roll off and it dries quickly when brought indoors. The only complaints I have is that the heavy duty zipper is hard to get started, but I think it'll break in in time and get smoother. The hood is only snapped on for easy removal, but it's a little too easy, as I grabbed it from my chair at a restaurant by the hood and the coat was a bit caught on the chair and the hood came off in my hands. Easy to put back on tho' & it's not the end of the world. Very waxy fabric--it'll get on your hands if you rub it, but that's what oilskin is all about, I guess. I do love the coat tho' and it rains here in Michigan a lot, so I'll get a lot of use out of it for years to come.

Great all around jacket. Hood snaps could be better but not an issue.

The quality is great for the price. A good coat for drippy weather doing chores outside, or walking to the post or store. The finish, sewing, and waxing are not up to Barbour standard, but what can you expect for a product made in China at a fraction of Barbour's price. I put a little epoxy in the hood snaps and now they work fine. This is a coat that you can feel good about wearing near barbed wire or changing a tire.

I have been interested in waxed cotton clothing for years but was deterred by availability and cost. I was delighted to find this jacket at STP prices. I've worn it through a cold wet Southern fall and kept warm and dry. I use the hood and the snaps are weak, so I sewed on a bit of velcro and no problem. There is something about the cut of the jacket and/or the unique fabric that makes it very flexible and comfortable to wear. It is heavy as other reviewers have noted but this is not a problem when worn. The sizing seemed to run a bit small for me. But I expect years of good service from this durable garment.

I've only had this a week, so these are my early comments. Time will tell if well-made & durable. I use this as a daily jacket for casual use. I'm a short guy and the arms are a tad long. I expect inner sleeves may not allow for easy altering. No prob, though, inner sleeve also keeps cuffs off hands. Requires a sweater in cold weather. The outside pockets are cargo pockets. No side pockets to keep hands in. Overall, I am satisfied with this purchase.

I was pleased with the accuracy of the product to the description. I don't know how warm it will be as it has a cotton lining and I intend to have some added inner layer when I wear it. I wanted a good water repellent/hooded jacket for my dog walking. It hasn't been tested yet, but I am happy with the fit and style.
