I wore these boots in 18 degree weather dog-sledding and had very cold toes even with occasional running. The problem is that between the liner and the rubber sole of the boot there is NOTHING. A thin insulating insole/barrier would improve these boots greatly. Otherwise the dense rubber just sucks the heat right out of your feet. I am looking for some thin wool or closed-cell foam to make my own insoles to improve these boots.

No chance yet this winter to test these boots out properly. Get a kick out of wearing them around the house, they are so warm and comfortable. My size 11 fit perfectly, allowing room for big socks, i dont think they run small according to other reviews.

I purchased these boots as moderate cold weather footwear. First use was on a long 100 mile snowmachine ride with temps around -20F. Feet stayed warm and the soft exterior rubber remained flexible and gripped well. Only downside to the soft toe box and rubber portion of the boot is that they will not be usable for outdoor work such as chainsawing/firewood collection since little protection is provided to the toes.

Repeat purchaser of this item. These are the best in my experience, as the quality of Sorel has slipped with overseas manufacture. The only want would be for an effective gaiter at the boot top. Great for all around winter wear. Also have the composite toe electrical rated boots for Fire Dept. and Technical Rescue utility wear.
