Expected better looking and more stylish boot from Keen... Instead, found light, warm, sturdy but clumsy-looking and not very comfortable... Not sure if I'd enjoy hiking in them... Returning...

Purchased these Keen boots for my 14-year old to keep his feet dry and warm when out and about during winter, sledding, etc. We used to go with the now discontinued Keen Winterport, and these aer similar in style and fit, with the dual bungee cord and web-like over piece at foot like Keen Sandals. He loves the look and said comfortable. Went with size 9; he wears an 8.5 in Nike/Adidas sneakers, and the 9 was perfect.

This is a unique design for a snow boot basically evolved from the Keene sandals design and it works amazingly well. The soft upper part flexed easily and is the only high top snow boot I've seen that doesn't feel like wearing ski boots and make me walk like Herman Munster. It also doesn't rub or chafe on my leg if my pants are worn outside. Even though It hasn't snowed yet I can feel the warmth just wearing it inside the house to try them out. Yet they also breath very well so with wool socks, my feet didn't get moist at all. I also have a high instep which makes most pull on boots hard to get into but the soft and flexible tops make this boot easy to wear. My wife got a pair of these 2 winters ago and loves them. The easy cleaning tread design grips well in snow but releases it easily so it doesn't track into the house.
    • Best Uses: Any Snow Activities
    • Cons: none
    • Pros: Comfortable, Easy Clean Tread, Easy on, Flexible, Grips Well In Snow, Light Weight, Warm

We geocache so my husband needed a good waterproof hiking boot as winter is setting in and the trails are getting cold, wet and muddy. I had heard good things about Keen so I ordered these in the recommended half size bigger. We headed out on the trail yesterday and waded across many streams in a temp about 30 degrees with snow falling, stepping through thick mud, climbing up hill and hiking approx 8 miles. His feet stayed warm, and his socks stayed bone dry. He had no blisters or sore feet and was so happy with the performance of these boots. The only thing he mentioned was it was a bit hard getting into them without a zip on the side, but he managed and is very happy to be going into winter knowing he can count on these boots for comfort and cleaning up the muddy boots was a breeze.
