I have wide feet and a medium-to-low arch, and Keens always feel as comfortable as slippers, but much more supportive. These are very sturdy and supportive, with a somewhat stiff sole. Seem like they'll be good for backpacking. I've only walked around the local park with them so far, but they fit pe... Read More

Bought two different model of Keen hiking boots. My shoe size being a 4 1/2 US, I can sometimes get by with a smaller size 5. Those did not foot the bill as they are way too long and wide for my foot. I had to return them!

I have super wide feet and there aren't many foot wear that are truly comfortable on my feet. I purchased these and put them on this morning and have worn them all day doing chores in the yard and around the house and still have them on. They are so comfortable! Tomorrow I'm going to take them for a walk and see how they do. I actually bought them to walk the Camino de Santiago next summer in Spain. I've given myself some time to break them in but I don't think they need to be broken in. They feel like slippers. I was planning on getting some gel inserts but they feel so good I may keep them as they are.

My feet are duck-like and are super wide at the toes. These Keen boots are made for ducks. Size wise I ordered a 10 1/2 because I wanted room for wool socks and would typically buy a size 10 in most shoes and boots where I would be wearing very thin dress socks. When I purchase Teva sandals I usually buy a size 9 or 9 1/2.

Keen's are about the only shoe I wear anymore because of my high arches and wide toes. These are slightly taller than the Keen Targhee II boot. I recently sprained my ankle and felt like I needed a little more support for my backpacking trips this summer. These will do the trick. They are full-grain leather and very good looking. The provide the little more additional support I was looking for.

I haven't worn them hiking yet. But out of the box they fit and felt great. Wearing them around the house for hours with no discomfort. Good support. True to size. I ordered my regular shoe size. Love the old fashioned look.

    • Keen recommends for Waterproof/Breathable footwear to enhance product performance, they recommend cleaning your footwear in cold water with mild soap or detergent, and then let air dry without heat. We also recommend Nikwax products.

    • These are my wife's boots and she hasn't had to do anything to them yet, but since they are leather, I'm sure we will have to eventually. Unfortunately she discarded the packaging/instructions, so when the time comes, we'll contact Keen directly to find out what they recommend. In general, sno-seal or Nikwax for leather---Nikwax may have something specific for this type of boot.

    • I'm no expert, but I would say you have to take care of the leather above all else. I think the waterproof part of the boot is some kind of Gore-tex-like layer under the leather, so I doubt protecting the leather would negate the waterproof quality.

About Keen

Keen shoes have been helping feet find adventure since 2003, and it all began with the signature KEEN.PROTECT toe bumper. It might seem strange to build a footwear company around a feature, but that iconic toe bumper is more than just a style add-on. It’s what allows Keen sandals to hit the trails and provide the best toe protection possible. In fact, Keen was one of the first footwear companies to make closed-toed hiking sandals. Over the years, the product selection has continued to grow and now includes Keen hiking boots, trail shoes, cycling shoes, socks, clothing and bags. The brand is also actively involved in land and water conservation projects in the US, Canada, Europe and Japan.
