This is my second pair of Keen Sport Sandals. I got a different color for variety, but my first ones are still like new and they are over 3 years old. I spend lots of time exploring the wonders of nature with little kids. That means, wading in streams and traipsing through lots of deep, sticky mud...

I had been thinking about getting a pair of Keens for quite some time. When I saw these at such a great price, I decided to go on and pick them up. Plus, I really liked the cute color with the gray/natural tones of the sole and toe bumper. I have only worn them a few times, but they've been great! The first time I wore them, there was a little bit of rubbing on the top of my right foot, but I haven't noticed it again (although I've only worn them two or three additional times). I'll continue to wear them into the fall, and I'm not really anticipating any issues.
There are a few slight differences. The Newport H2 is meant to be in water a lot as it has webbing straps and a sole that will dry quickly. The Newport has polyester/cloth straps that will not hold up to as much water wear as the H2. Also the sole has a bit of a suede feel to it so it doesn't dry as quickly.

As far as I can tell, the difference is in the material; one is canvas and the other is nylon-ish...

Keen shoes have great support, are very comfortable and have a large toe box for plenty of room. They have a sole the grips and are good for light hikes to keep you cool and have easier river crossings.

These shoes will be great for Nicaragua, they will keep your feet cool with ventilation, keep water out when tromping through rivers and still have good tractions and climb on rocks with good traction as well. This shoe is good for an all around tropical trip.
