Most Helpful 5-Star Review
Reviewed by Jay Pee from 10,000 feet on Wednesday, June 19, 2013I have used this only 2 nights, but it is typical Kelty quality, super soft and inflated mostly without help from me. It is a lofty 1 3/4 inches thick and I like the BRIGHT RED color, it contrasts with my BRIGHT YELLOW sleepiing bag in a WAKE UP HAPPY kinda way!
The auxilliary closed cell pad in the bottom side pocket was thinner than I thought it would be, but Ok, no rpoblem, for the money, huny, it is fine! Rolls up to about a 4" dia. roll and weighs nothing for a fast-n-light overnighter.
I have puirchased from STP for about 9 years, and Kelty as well, my $100 45*F 9 year old Kelty bag I got here is still in perfect shape!
Reviewed by Ed from mi on Tuesday, June 11, 2013deidn't come with stuff sack or repair kit. I've been told a replacement is on the way. Where is it?
Reviewed by Julz from Texas on Tuesday, April 9, 2013These passed the test for a seasoned scout and a new scout. They are easy to inflate, easy to deflate and pack back into stuff sack, and light enough for short backpacking trips. The quality seems sturdy enough to carry them through for quite a while.
Reviewed by unknown from unknown on Thursday, April 4, 2013The pad provides a comfortable sleeping surface while providing great insulation from the ground. The stuff sack and repair kit are nice and it packs down to a reasonable size. Only qualm: it took a few tries to receive one free of leaks, but the STP team was fantastic and very accommodating.

“I'm very new to purchasing self-inflating pads. I've read reviews on different makes and styles. Is this a true self-inflating pad or do I need to assist in blowing it up myself.”
“For warm-weather backpacking and camping, what is the weight and size if not using the removable closed-cell foam part?”
With the closed cell pad removed it weighs 2 lb.. It is 22" long and 5.5" in diameter.
“I have used therm-a-rest ProLite pads before and they work great, compared to them how would the Kelty Alpine differ. Also would I be able to fold this in half (left to right) and then roll it up just like a therm-a-rest? thanks for your help”
The Kelty has a removable bottom layer made of Closed Cell foam which gives it a great balance of cold-weather comfort and warm-weather versatility. It can be folded then rolled up also like the Therm-a-rest.
