I like it. After setting it up the first time I'm sure I could set it up quickly while camping, ten to fifteen minutes. Pictures were a little deceiving. The pictures showed screened windows. My original thought would be, a good escape from mosquitoes, but it's not really made to sit closely to the ground like a tent.

I haven't yet field-tested it, but set-up was quick and easy. Cannot speak to its durability but the materials are of good quality. It makes a nice little private space next to my Subaru Outback; I will use it when car camping as a changing room, place to stash gear out of the elements, afternoon shaded nap spot, etc. I'd give it 5 stars except that I haven't yet used it and thus can't report on its actual performance.

We use the Kelty as an awning/ shelter for the cook area of our expedition trailer. It can be set-up in multiple configurations, and if anchored properly it has withstood 2 days of severe storms. Plan on replacing the supplied cords and stakes as the cord will fray with the slightest abrasion and the stakes are useless.
overall very happy with this producrt

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Every year our Dance Studio has a full show, dress rehearsal with no room in the small studio for the dancers to change. So most are subjected to changing in the back of their cars & vans. With the average dancer having 7 costume changes, make-up, hair pieces and tons of shoes... this makes car changing very difficult not to mention hot in the summer... add a thunderstorm and it can be down right awful. This year I bought a Kelly Carport Deluxe (medium) to help with this event... and hoped for the best. I arrived at the studio parking lot at 5am to insure I had parking with a little space of grass next to the car. While my daughter slept I set up the carport on the side of my SUV... it took less then 15 mins. to set up and that was my first time setting it up... okay the day has started off well! There was enough room in the carport to set up a full garment rack, hand a full length mirror,2 portable fans, and still allow room for 2 girls to rapidly change dance costumes. By 6pm (13hrs later) and 2 thunderstorms/down pours later my Kelly Carport allowed for 52 costume changes... no leaks (so no expensive costume damage), no problems with the storm winds (although there was plenty of screaming & laughing dancers) and my Kelly Carport payed for itself with the first use. Thank-you!! Pamela Brandt-Hare

I bought this on a whim and due to a fabulous coupon, and I'm very glad I did. We used this once, for the NASCAR Nationwide race at Road America, and I got lots of "what the heck is that thing" looks from passersby.
We secured the top on the roof racks of my Subaru Forester, which didn't give us much headroom inside. I'm working on a way of securing it to my rooftop cargo box for a little more headroom. But we were able to use this as an all-day sunshade and place to store all our stuff during the day and at night. As others have mentioned, it doesn't seal all the way to the ground so if that creeps you out, then you can't use it as an abode for camping.
I can't comment on water resistance since it didn't rain, but it seems well constructed. The windows on all 3 sides zip open and provide the opportunity for cross-ventilation.
We did try to raise it into the awning configuration and that didn't seem secure or wind-resistant at all. If I had the car-side more secure (the included velcro straps do not make it that tightly held) and perhaps some shorter and thicker poles (the ones provided do not provide much rigidity at their full length), it would be guy-able and might be more secure. That's for next time.
