Kelty Lark Backpack

I had been carrying my computer in a tote bag every day, which was getting ro be really painful in a specific place on my shoulders. I am so happy to have this backpack--I don't think it's overstating to say it's revolutionized my life. I no longer feel entitled to sit down on the subway because of my bag; I can stand for a 30 minute commute without feeling pain. It's actually a little bit small for my 17" macbook; there's a slip for the computer and little pouch inside for pens/small supplies, and the laptop is so big it sort of pokes up into the flap--hard to describe. But this is not really a problem because I hardly ever use that flap. I don't need much from a backpack. Which brings me to the features--the little pouch and a small front pocket are the only true features. This is perfect for me; no need for frills, just a place to store stuff. I can fit my computer, water bottle, a bagged lunch, a few books and maybe an extra jacket in the main compartment. The front pocket is the perfect size for my power cords, makeup, umbrella and glasses case. I don't need or want bells or whistles other than those, and the backpack still feels small, never bulky or overweight like other backpacks I've had, where I always end up accumulating extra stuff just because there's space for it. I am surprised by how comfortable such a simple design is--no special padding on the straps or anything like that but I can barely feel this bag when I'm wearing it! The design is not only practical, simple and comfortably--I think it's stylish as well. As a frequent backpacker who now lives in the city, I love that Kelty has this cute bag that fits in in an urban setting but also reminds me of my other hobby. I got the navy because I wanted a color that could hide dirt, but I think the ivory could actually look cool with a bit of dirt on it. I love the orange, too! The red zipper lining and gold zipper are a cool touch. The cordura fabric seems durable so far; I haven't endured any foul weather while wearing the bag so I can't speak to that. I've also only had it for two weeks so I can't say how well it holds up in the long run. But so far I love it!

I'm traveling in a few weeks and needed a "personal item" for the plane, along with my carry-on. This backpack is perfect since it holds my laptop and all the other electronic gadgets I'm bringing. It will be my "purse" for my travel. Since I'll be on three different airlines, I wanted to have something that was within the maximum linear dimensions required by each airline. The Kelty Lark fit the bill.

I needed a carry on for a recent trip and in order to keep to the two item maximum, I bought this Kelty backpack. It was perfect for all my electronics that I needed to bring with me. My 15 inch laptop fit in perfectly. I used the backpack as my "purse" and had room for my wallet, travel papers, and other personal items. I am so glad I bought this backpack!
