Kelty Redwing Backpack - LE 3100

the zippered side pockets are not secure and will open if filled and jostled during walking. otherwise the fit is as advertized and is comfortable for long day hikes. used it as carry on luggage and it beats a hard side roller carry.

The Kelty Redwing has combined all the features best suited for a travel pac in this one.

I bought this pack for a trip to Central Asia where I would have a home base, but be traveling up to four days from there. I easily fit two cameras, clothes and other necessities for four days in this pack. It was comfortable to wear, and I was able to carry it on the plane...Great Purchase

This is a great pack for long day hikes or an over nighter if you are into the minimalist scene. This a very comfortable pack and adjusts easily while pounding the trail. There are ample pockets and storage areas inside and out. I found that if used for an overnighter, the pack fills up very quickly with the tent, clothing, and cooking gear. The sleeping bag straps neatly to the outside bottom of the pack. I also appreciate the heavy duty zippers which are adequately covered and protected from the weather. Overall a good guy for the money.

I bought this for my husband who is an avid mountaineer. He hasn't used this yet but he's tried it on, filled it up and adjusted it & says so far, so good. I hope STP brings in a smaller version for woman / daypack in the same color. This is a large bag (for me, anyhow)and perfect for you guys!

everyday use

I have used this pack for day hikes, car camping, business travel and as my only luggage for 3 weeks in Europe. It is light for its size, has good access, great pockets, good support, nice padding and a flexible compression system. I like the size... which is good for a couple days or much longer. It is comfortable to wear, adjusted easily to my 6'7" frame and has lasted very well with no seam separation in 5 years. I would recommend it as a suprisingly versatile, well-made pack for short to medium trips.

A great, favorite pack for everything from urban environments to a weekend in the backcountry. Not for the minimalist looking to conserve every ounce, but one of the best packs for the rest of us.

The only minor con I can come up with is I'd like the main compartment to open just a bit wider. Then, it would be easier to completely flip open the top and stuff it full of stuff. Other than that, it's a great backpack.
