The Kenyon Polarskins (heavyweight) have now become my go-to for keeping warm this winter! I do not like tight tops so I purchased the top in a large and the bottom in a medium (5'7"/163 lbs). Both fit to suit me; however, in retrospect the medium top would have worked better for layering and base... Read More

I love the color, fit and fabric but wish it had a v-neck. Or, a turtleneck with a zipper. Crew necks make me feel like I'm choking.

If you wear one of these heavyweight base layer shirts over a t-shirt, you're good to go to about 30 degrees - with no jacket! And I am a cold-weather weenie, so they must be warm.

I just bought my third one! I bought two last year in black, size small. When I wanted to order a third one, only blue was available in small. The fleece fabric is soft and thick, but so lightweight (not bulky or heavy feeling) and comfortable to wear! It doesn't look bad wearing it as a top instead of as a base layer. I work outdoors and live in Florida. I'm cold when the temperature drops below 75 degrees, so I wear these tops to work under a sweatshirt on winter days when the high temperature is in the 50's or even low 60's. It is much warmer than my other lightweight thermal shirts. It is comfortable for working or lounging. It fits true to size.

We have been taking advantage of the frequent snowstorms this winter and have been doing a lot of skiing. The temps dip into the single digits on the mountain with high winds at times, so I knew I had to get Kenyon for the family. I bought this specific top for my daughter because my husband and I have one, and we are never cold when we wear ours. It is of a fleecy, thick, technical fabric which wicks moisture surprisingly well for its weight. It is even somewhat windproof which is amazing for a base layer. I believe it is superior to other brands like Hot Chillys, Snow Angel, and stores like LL Bean, and that says a lot. This Kenyon top really lives up to its name of "expedition" weight. Highly recommended.

I have order these for my husband and son who work construction they love them. So I thought I would get a pair for me finally ( my old low tech one died). I love them they aren't bulky and 100 time warmer than my old ones. I should have done this years ago I am going to get a light weight pair to wear to the office. I was 12 degrees yesterday when I got up for work and I am positive that they would be warmer than legging under my dress pants.

    • Answer I'd call it midweight as far as physical weight of the product. But I've spent time in the Caribbean, and you're going to need another layer. At the same time, 2 layers, including this one and a t-shirt, is going to make you nice and comfy. I believe a jacket would make you hot.

    • Answer It's not heavy in the sense that it weighs a lot, but it is a bit bulky because it's fleecy. It's not really bulky, and I think it would mush down if you have space constraints in a backpack, but it's not thin like some base layers.

    • Answer Yes, very lightweight, yet very warm. I have one in every color and wear them outside during 25F degree days while hiking. The only issue may be that it is a little bulkier than a typical underlayer, but no bulkier than a typical polarfleece.

    • Answer You will be fine on your hike with this top. Despite its dense weave, which is responsible for providing such a high degree of warmth, it is extremely lightweight. Unlike wool, cotton, or other natural fibers, the polyester fleece of this top is like a featherweight material: soft and "airy", even when wet. The fiber is synthetic, so that is why it is so light. We use it for skiing and backcountry hiking, and we never feel chilled in it.

    • Answer I live in FL and I'm like you - cold when it is in the 70's. I love this top. It is soft, thick, warm, and comfortable and does not weigh much. It feels very light.

    • Answer This item is a heavyweight for being warm, but it is fairly light when referring to gravitational weight.

  • Question “Does this run true to size ? Does the small have some room to it?”

Asked on 12/27/2013 4:38:52 PM by Abbie from Florida
    • Answer I'm over 5'9 and weigh 115, so I'm thin and have small bones and am flat-chested. The small is a perfect fit--not snug, not loose. Not restraining in anyway. It pretty much goes according to the sizing guidelines. I was going to try a medium, but decided to trust the sizing guidelines and got the small, which really is a perfect fit. This top is very soft and warm. I love it--bought a bunch of them.

    • Answer It does run true to size. There is room in body and plenty in the shoulders. The only place it could be larger is in the length of the sleeves. I have long arms and they are a little short for me.
Answered on 12/27/2013 5:12:51 PM by Ca Trekker from California
    • Answer I feel it runs true to size. Since the shirt is a base layer, your normal size will fit close-to-the-body as it should so that another layer can fit over it easily. If you want the shirt to fit loosely then I'd suggest you order up a size. I bought three for me in a large (instead of medium) as I wanted them to fit loosely as pajama tops. I bought three for my Mom in her true size and these are against the skin on her. Even when fitting against the body, they are not tight as the fleece has some give to it. We both love these tops.
