I've have two for about a year, and wear them around the house EVERY day. Not great looking, but not too bad. About 20 washes later no pilling. AWESOME. Bought for mtn biking, but don't want to stink them up. Can't imagine what I wore before I got them.

Overall this is a comfy garment. Feels smooth to the skin with plenty of give for freedom of movement. Though stated as heavy I'd say it feels more like a mid-weight shirt to me.

I ordered this because I didn't know much about Polartec Power Stretch. This product is everything it was advertised to be: warm, stretchy and breathable. It's a little long on me, but I'm only 5'9"; it's probably the correct length for a base layer. If this is a 2nd I could not find the flaw, and I may order this in another color. The large fits like I expected. It's a close fit, but no problem because of the flexibility of the fabric.

Got the XL men's top which fits well though the sleeves' lengths just reach my wrists, the body is slightly wide and the tail is slightly long so it appears to tuck well into pants. The large size would've been too tight based on how the XL fits.

Now remember... "Base layer clothing is worn right next to your skin. The main purpose of the base layer is to wick moisture away from your body during periods of activity, keeping you dry and providing some additional warmth."
So base layer clothing is technically suppose to be "pulled over" relatively tight to keep one's core warm. It's also worn underneath other clothing to wick moisture from the skin.

Now, it fits fine, slight fluffy fleece on the inside and smooth side on the outside and it stretches as you move. The front zipper would come in handy when I start to heat up. Some people do Not realize that the outside should be relatively smooth as this is considered a base layer shirt so it's worn Underneath a shirt or sweater so that would pull over smoothly over this fleece top. It would be nice if it had an athlete's cut (broader shoulders and slimmer body width) for a better fit.

This shirt can be worn as a lighweight sweater ;)

It came at a nice time when cold weather already arrived though relatively warm now but the temperature will drop down to 40s to 30s soon.

Lastly, can't tell what the irregularity is but don't care as there doesn't appear to have any defects in the material or design so all's relative good!

When I first got this from STP I was disappointed that the outside was smooth rather than what I particularly consider fleecy, and considered sending it back. But the interior has that classic fleecy feel and the external surface is nice. Well glad I did because it wears (and washes) as well if not better than the classic both sided fleece.

  • Question “Is this a "loose fit" more of a "fitted" or "compression" type fit?”
Asked on 12/5/2014 8:10:11 AM by Rick from Virginia
    • Answer I'd say it's right inbetween leaning more towards a looser fit.
Answered on 12/5/2014 8:38:35 AM by Big Wave Dave from Michigan
    • Answer For me...
It was regular fit though the bottom of the shirt was a bit roomy but it's long enough so the tail can be tucked into the pants.
The pants were more fitted though not a compression fit but still relatively tighter.

    • Answer This is loose fitting but not baggy. I layer it under button down shirts to eliminate the need for a jacket or coat.
