I purchased these boots to serve as slip-on shoes for cold and rainy days . They were on closeout and, having bought them, I should be charged with theft...because this deal was a steal. Seal (the singer not the marine mammal). With the buy 1 get 1 free promo I ended up paying around thirty dollars for the boots and would recommend them. I ordered a size larger (10.5 instead of 9.5) and they fit like a pair of gloves, but on my feet and not my hands. The lining is soft and insulates well. I've been known to wear them without socks. In spite of the false advertisement--the boots aren't made with any actual duck hide--I give this footwear a rating of four-point-five mallards out of five mallards. A duck was cleaved in half in praise of these boots.

These boots are warm enough for quick errands in Wyoming. And, true to the description, are not bulky. I'm female, wanted a nonfussy pair of sturdy waterproof boots for mud season, and my feet don't look humongous when I wear these. Because they are made to a men's last - they are a little slippy in the heel for me, but bulky socks should fix that.

Style is really nice... even better in person than in picture. The list price on these is really low considering the high quality. I've been wearing them almost every day for the past three winter months, tucking in pants. I'm a 10.5 size, and size 11 fits perfectly with two pairs of heavy socks... too big with one pair. About to order a size 10 in the other color for warmer weather (one pair of light socks), though I'll probably have to return it because of being too small. Maybe Khombu keeps prices so low by not offering half sizes?

Looked high and low for a pair of boots of this quality at this price and finally found them at one of my favorite on-line sites...Sierra Trading Post. Scored on every point: Looks, comfort, ease of putting on and taking off, warmth, fit and price. And not clunky: That is, not too heavy weight. Couldn't ask for more.

Question
“I am a size 12 with wide fee and more importantly thick ankles and calfs. How wide can this boot open for my legs?”
Answer
The Khombu Duck Suede Winter Boots have a medium width. I think they will be to narrow for you.

Answer
Ted, if this helps, I can tell you the measurements for the size 11. Measuring your calf circumference 8" up your leg from the floor, the opening of the boot would accommodate a 15.5" calf.
