I had been so excited to buy these for my dogs but once I got them I found out they are the flimsiest beds there are! The covering on the bed in wonderful but the inside flattens right to the ground and provides no support. So going to send these back... don't waste your money!

Picked up a bunch of these on sale when they began to be offered instead of the entire beds. The covers are the best part of the beds as I think the poly inserts are very quick to push to the edges and compress to the floor with the size of the dogs you would expect on beds this big. The covers are a pretty durable fabric and resistant to scratching before laying down so far. The only vulnerable part is the zipper, which is a flimsy gauge/size although covered by a large flap it is somewhat protected. We have had one zipper casualty, although that cover is still in service so far (we haven't come downstairs to polyester everywhere-at least not from one of these beds!). If the zipper does break and the cover is still usable, I like to use small zip ties to fasten it closed at intervals. These can be easily clipped to remove the insert for washing the cover. Sewing it shut means you can't take the insert out for washing without more work and safety pins, etc. are more of a hazard. We had been cutting old memory foam mattress toppers to make inserts for rectangluar Orvis covers (30x40") with our last-and smaller-dog, and it works great for these bigger beds as well. Anything in the 3-5" range in thickness works great. One drawback is a queen topper only gets you one insert at 50" diameter (so we have only made 1 round insert so far). But, our 2 6-month-old great danes immediately preferred the memory foam bed because it doesn't compress to the floor after about a week.
    • Best Uses: Dogs
    • Cons: Zipper Can Be Vulnerable
    • Pros: Durable, Flap Covering Zipper, Scratch resistant
