Well, like I believe others have said, this is a bit bigger than I expected. However, I prefer to have something bigger than I need rather than never having enough room. I have been able to fit my Aikido gi, a few personal belongings, and still have the room to stop by the market to pick up a few essentials (veggies, meats, eggs, cream, etc) Sure, I couldn't zip it closed at that point, but even with the top open, everything inside was very secure and the clips held it securely to the rack. It is attractive and sturdy. The zipper works great, and it is constructed with all quality materials. The clips that fasten it to the rack are very easy to manage, they are designed such that you can just lower the bag onto the rack without having to squeeze the clips open. When removing the bag, the clips are easy to get to and maneuver. The only negative thing I can say about the bag is the strap is not quite long enough for my tastes when I'm carrying it off the bike. It has 2 positions that adjust with a snap. The shorter is great for when it's attached to the bike and if you carry it in your hand. The longer position is good for carrying on the shoulder, but it isn't long enough to go across my body which is how I prefer to carry bags. The strap is also a bit hard and scratchy and I find it a bit uncomfortable on my shoulder. Perhaps if I have on a long sleeve or jacket it won't be too bad, but with a tank top it got irritating after a while. All in all it's a great bag and I'm glad I got it.

Bag is under 7" deep at its deepest point inside, which is in the middle at the bottom, and it gets shallower at the bottom edges and progressively shallower toward the top, where if zipped and pulled (the material is not elastic) to its maximum zipped depth it is under 5" deep and about 13" high. 1000 cu in is a reasonable estimate of the volume it can hold when the zipper is closed. If it isn't zipped and the sides are held up (the material is not rigid at the top), it is about 15" high and 3" deep at the top. If it isn't zipped it could probably contain about an additional 100 cubic inches. One of the tags that is attached to the bag indicates it is 18 x 14 x 7.5 inches and that its volume is 2000 cubic inches. STP is giving its dimensions as 16x14x7-1/2" and its capacity as 1700 cu in. Other than not being as capacious as advertized, it appears to be a good pannier. The rubber bottom and the side of the bag(but not the top near the zipper) that clips to the rack are stiff. I don't know how many stars one should take away for having more that 30% less capacity than advertized.

I'm glad I finally found a pannier bag that can travel on and off the bike that looks more like a normal bag when I'm carrying it. It stays on like a champ on the bike and has enough room to hold everything and enough structure to not be overly fat and make you into a wide load commuting. Better quality than I expected for this deal of a price tag!

The bottom is amazingly durable... almost like a hard-core shoe sole on the bottom. Love the floral/bike pattern. The strap is adjustable to be low-profile while you are riding & useful when you are carrying it on your shoulder. The included waterproof cover is a great touch - I will probably use it all the time when riding to keep it clean, as the canvas would probably get dirty quickly.

I bought this for my wife. She likes the combination of style, light weight (compared to her previous basket solution), and the ease with which it moves from use as a pannier to a tote.
