lock and release button isn't tight so shovel slips a little making it wear quicker.

This is a solid shovel at a good price. I waited for STP to offer me an e-mail discount and got it at a great price. I agree that the lock/release button could be tighter, but I hope it causes no problems. It also is a bit long when collapsed compared to its competitors, but since I use a ski pulk, it is not an issue for me. I look forward to using it this winter camping season. Otherwise, it will be in my trunk for Colorado mountain winter driving contingencies.

I carry this in my Land Rover LR4 as I have 3 miles of dirt to my Ranch House. Can get deep and/or drifted snow. Shovel can be very useful!!!

The metal is not a thin metal and it extends to a length which will make it very easy to use for most any task. I bought four, one each vehcile, and one for my grandson rear wheel drive truck. I hope I never have to use it but it will be there if I do. Don't pass this one up, It is well worth the money.
