The poles were purchased for light trekking. One works OK but the other can not be locked. Though the light weight is great, it does not offset the unreliability.

Ordered 2 pair. One worked and the other didn't. The locking system was hard to work with and collapsed easily.

These poles are lightweight, and they have an extra grip material under the handles so you don't have to keep adjusting them as you change directions on a hill. However, they are difficult to adjust, especially in cold weather. I just took mine apart to clean, and the little orange thing that tightens it got stuck somewhere up in the pole sleeve. I give up!

These poles were great once they were locked out, but I had a really difficult time getting them to lock, maybe I had a defective pair. They also collapsed very easily. They were super light though, and the grips and straps were really comfortable. I used them on a 20 mile traverse through the Bigelow Range in Maine.

After receiving the poles just over a week ago, I took them on a 3 1/2 hour hike on a fairly steep trail. I was especially pleased with their lack of weight compared to a 20 year old single steel pole I had previously used. On rare occasion, the tips wanted to slip slightly on rocks. When adjusting the poles, the finished scuffed slightly. Otherwise, they are great and I anticipate years of use.

We haven't used these poles yet, but we have been using Komperdell poles for years. These poles are crazy light and collapse super small. This is the main reason for the up-graded. Mainly for my wife, but I will be using them as well. We are familiar with the twist locking mechanism and it is fine. Yes, it can slip or stick especially as the poles age, but poles get heavy abuse and I've yet to find a fail proof locking system. I have found them to be field serviceable. Wondering how the carbon will hold up over the years. We will see.

I've used these poles for a year and a half now, in summer and winter, with powder baskets added. In summer they're easy on my joints, the carbon fiber has some flex for shock resistance. So light, they're a pleasure to use. The locking mechanism is fussy, I had to retrain myself to use them. Don't unlock them more than necessary, and take them completely apart and clean them if they start to slip.

The poles worked great in my 70-degree living room but on the first hike on a sub-freezing day in the WVA mountains, they absolutely wouldn't stay locked. This was a major disappointment.

I used them once since buying them and liked them. I would need a few more trips to get a better overall feeling for them but I think they will meet my needs nicely.

I used these on an 11 mile trek near timber line and found them to be incredibly light and comfortable. I'm sure they will see a lot of use. Sometimes in the past I have taken a chance on my knees and not used poles because they were too heavy or cumbersome - no longer!
