Verified Buyer Reviewed by Mountain man from Tarryall Mts, CO on Saturday, May 17, 2014Poles are bulky, new adjustment locks are terrible in brush as they snag on everything. Carbon fiber is not as light as I expected - my current Komperdell Predators (Titanal) are just as light and more useful in brush. I can adjust my Predators easily "in the field" whereas the Ascents need a screwdriver etc. Komperdell took a major step backward for my type of wilderness hiking!!!
Verified Buyer Reviewed by T from Massachusetts on Thursday, April 24, 2014I've only used the poles once, but they are lightweight and easy to set up. No problem getting them to stay extended.
Much better than the ones with internal mechanisms that rust.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Judy, from Wisconsin on Tuesday, April 22, 2014I am a long time user of hiking poles and unfortunately lost one on a trip. My first ones were Komperdells but did try a lot of others. I really like the light weight of these and the new locking system. I have yet to use these new ones and anxious to compare my old cork handles versus this handle. Selection and delivery service was excellent. Thanks.
Reviewed by Ben from Utah on Sunday, March 23, 2014Used them hiking twice and no complaints so far. They're very light and comfortable. I noticed they slipped a bit the first on the first trip but I think it was due to the screws on the locks needing to be tightened just a hair. No slippage problems on the second trip.
Also they only came with one trekking basket (for the end of the poles), so I called Sierra trading post and they sent me two new ones for free that arrived in three days after the poles did. Great customer service.
Reviewed by AZ on the AT from Phoenix, AZ on Monday, January 20, 2014I have had Komperdell aluminum poles for many years. This summer I plan to thru hike the AT, so want to start with new poles. Saw these on sale, so went ahead and made the purchase. Very lightweight. I like the foam/plastic handles. The locking system seems solid. Can't rate durability yet, but so far, so good.
