I love these poles for their weight, ease of use, etc. But I have broken two lower carbon shafts in less than a year. With vitually no weight penalty I'm switching to aluminum shaft poles.

I use these poles for backcountry skiing, and they do the job perfectly.. I was unsure about the materials -the newer ones from Komperdell have Titanal in the name- but these have titanal (strong Al alloy) upper shafts with carbon lowers so... what's the diff? My only complaint is that the wrists straps are a little fussy to adjust (for different gloves) but that's a minor thing I can definitely live with.

Great performance in backcountry skiing and snowshoeing. So far no problems at all.

Very lightweight and great lower grip. Particularly useful when ascending as you can lever from the strap to the handle when going up. Cons: My son skied into me and hit my pole. Aluminum would not have broken, but the carbon lower piece snapped off. Komperdell was good and sent me a new one for a reasonable fee.
