Komperdell. These are the best! Easy to change the length when going up or downhill. Strong; big ice tips so they won't break if slipped into a crack. CAVEAT - don't whack the sides of your skis with pole to knock off sticky snow: carbon fiber poles might shatter.

Very lightweight and great lower grip. Particularly useful when ascending as you can lever from the strap to the handle when going up. Cons: My son skied into me and hit my pole. Aluminum would not have broken, but the carbon lower piece snapped off. Komperdell was good and sent me a new one for a reasonable fee.

I use these poles for backcountry skiing, and they do the job perfectly.. I was unsure about the materials -the newer ones from Komperdell have Titanal in the name- but these have titanal (strong Al alloy) upper shafts with carbon lowers so... what's the diff? My only complaint is that the wrists straps are a little fussy to adjust (for different gloves) but that's a minor thing I can definitely live with.

I love these poles for their weight, ease of use, etc. But I have broken two lower carbon shafts in less than a year. With vitually no weight penalty I'm switching to aluminum shaft poles.

  • Question “Are these poles stronger than the Komperdell C2 Womens ski-touring poles? I've used the latter and they've broken on me several times under pretty small lateral force.|Are they as light?”
Asked on 8/23/2011 12:00:00 AM by Peter the math-mountain-bum from Vancouver-SanDiego
    • Answer The Komperdell C2 Carbon Powerlock Touring Poles are made of Carbon Fiber while the Komperdell Carbon Contour II Touring Ski Poles are made of Tungsten carbide which mades them stronger.

    • Answer Peter - They are indeed light, but yes, somewhat fragile. Mine broke on the fifth time out, but it was because my son skied into me.

  • Question “Hello, would these poles be suitable for splitboarding im 6ft, cheers kel”
Asked on 4/13/2011 12:00:00 AM by Kel from Unknown
    • Answer As they fully extend to 55" they would be slightly short if you want them for the full 6 ft. Though if you won't be going all the way through that they will work just fine.
