Great poles the basket are pretty big, great for powder. If you are using these for packed snow or resorts you may want to pickup the smaller baskets that STP sells. I have both baskets and switch them out for given snow conditions. Tighten the screw as soon as you them or they will slide. I am really happy with them.

Much better design than twist-type telescopic poles. Note, however, that the user might need to adjust the set screw prior to first use. (My poles "slipped" the first time I used them because the set screw was too loose out of the factory.) And, great price from STP when compared to other retailers!

Crazy expensive -- but reasonable with the healthy Sierra discounting... The powerlocks slipped the first time I used them. I turned the screw and they have been solid (and still easy to adjust)ever since... The super-lightness of the poles is somewhat cancelled by the large baskets. Ideal for backcountry. For resort skiing, I may try to find smaller Komperdell baskets, though the baskets aren't so huge they're silly -- they're simply not as light as I expected.

These poles are pretty much as light as you can get. The clamp locks it in place and I've had no problems with slippage. A great pole for anything you need to do outside and an incredible deal at Sierra Trading Post price.
