I skinned one race with these and the shaft cracked near the base. Very lightweight but not as strong as I expected.

I use these for back country XC skiing. I have not used these much because snow conditions change drastically. They are rugged and reliable, comfortable and "fit" many needs. For snow shoeing they would be outstanding and trekking would be a delight. I find them very useful in my area for many tasks. Thank you for your services.

First time out was on a short 2.5 mile loop with lots of up and down and big rocks along the side of the trail. I left the baskets off, and I think I'm glad I did. One of the poles is kind of hard to extend/retract. The instructions were not written by an English speaker, but you can get the gist. They really performed. No slippage of the locks. I did bang them against the rocks a surprising amount, and they got scuffed pretty easily. Don't know how long these guys are going to last in rough terrain. There's no shock absorbers in these, but that's OK. I'm satisfied and will continue to use them until I break them.

I'm kind of at a loss as to how trekking poles that don't collapse down can be useful at all. If you can't pack them, how are you going to get them to the mountain? They said "telescoping" but they only telescope up, not down. So I returned them.
