Not much to write about here - they're rubber caps that go over the ends of the poles to protect the carbide tips (when walking on concrete surfaces, ostensibly). To that end, they're great! They slide on, I walk to the trail head, then they slide off and go in to my pocket until I return. Not sure how well the tips on the poles would survive if I didn't use these, but the price was low enough that I bought these.

These are must haves for practice hikes on pavement, and I think would do very well on rocks and dirt.

Happy to find these!! Local stores only carry tips with internal diameters too large for my older Komperdell "Mountain Explorer" trekking poles, so I bought 2 sets. It's too soon to comment on their durability, but they certainly fit well, and are just what I need to get an upper-body workout while walking on pavement.

I use these rubber pole tips three seasons, then off for ice and snow. The steel tips will be worn through after 50+ miles of rocks and pavement. sometimes must slit with a knife to get off after a years use. Some say these tips came off on them, yet for me after a good pounding hike mine get stuck on tight. I clean all possible oil off the pole tip with alcohol prep. I'm somewhat crippled with three joints replaced so far and I've used this same brand tip for 10 years.
