Most Helpful 5-Star Review
Reviewed by GA. hiker from Morgnaton,, GA. on Saturday, May 10, 2014Lightweight, like the color but the power-locking mechanism doesn't. Every time I hike, the poles shorten. Just had a knee replacement so I wanted to upgrade to a better set of poles but these don't give me that secure feeling I was looking for. Easy to use just don't hold their length.
Reviewed by dachswan from North Dakota on Wednesday, February 19, 2014Before I write a review on a product, I like to try it out in various conditions, activities, and moods. Because Spring is only a light at the end of the (long) Winter tunnel, I have only used these poles for snowshoeing (so far). That is the perspective from which I write this review. Also, I am a 5' 2" female, which is why I chose to purchase this set of poles to replace my two sets of older, cheaper poles.
I was very impressed when I took them out of the STP box (that is an understatement).
They are super lightweight. I am used to the heavier, more cumbersome poles with anti-shock. Wow, what a difference! I spend less energy and feel lighter and faster on my feet. Even writing that makes me happy.
The locking mechanism is different than most other poles (or at least the ones that I have). The bottom section adjusts with a turn, but the everyday height (or length) adjusts with a clamp/hinge. I didn't know if I would like it at first, but I really do! It is very, very easy to quickly set it for your need. I found that after a couple of times out that one of my poles did slip a little, but it is easy to fix by tightening the screw just a tiny bit.
Also, I love the grips on these poles. They are warm in the Winter--much better than the hard plastic that I had before these. They are very comfortable with or without gloves. The strap is padded and is comfortable on the skin.
As I mentioned, I have only had a chance to use these for snowshoeing and I'm hardest on my poles in the Winter. These are holding up beautifully. I tend to depend on them a lot because of a bum ankle, so that is saying a lot. I'm sure they will be a blessing in the warmer months! They are so lightweight that they'll be perfect for backpacking.

Answer This item can come apart but we strongly recommend that you do not take it apart. The total length when collapsed is 24.5" so each piece individually is less than 24".
Answer This is the weight of both poles combined.
