Bought the poles for hiking. Solid construction, quick adjusting. They don't compress to a small size so beware.

I used these for the first time a couple days ago and fell in love, they're great poles. I'm not sure about the durability, only time will tell on that one, but they were a pleasure to use for a long day of skiing. The powerlock works great and it easy to operate, and they are nice and light. I've always alpoine skiied so A/T is all new to me, but very exciting to have such nice gear, poles included!

I'm using these as trekking poles and they're fine. The surprise came when the handle loop came out on their maiden voyage. I had to tie a knot in the loop for a quick fix. When I got them home I was able to pop the top of the handle off and re-thread the loop. I have large hands and the grips could be a little larger, but that's just me. They are lighter than my wife's Komperdells, which are about 5 years old. I like the locking mechanism and it's holding so far.

I use these poles for off-trail exploring in extremley rugged terrain. They are far better than 3 piece poles I have had and have a great locking mechanism.

Good price. Like the powerlock feature, this is why we bought the poles. Twist locks have failed in the past. Did get a blister from the handle on first long hike, but they were new and it was a 13 mile hike with nearly 6,000ft elevation gain...tough first test. Wish the poles came with baskets other than snow baskets...however these are easy to find and replace. Recommend the power lock feature over the twist lock poles.

Just got back from a backcountry tour (20,000 ft total asc/descent over the weekend), skinning up some steeps and really put the pressure on these poles, especially the sketchy switchbacks in one area, but they worked great. Great grip on the greptile section, really!! When fully collapsed the last section with the basket slides out about a foot if you don't readjust the lock thingy....no real complaint.

I've used these snowshoeing and cross country skiing. My old poles were in 3 sections and would often slip and almost collapse. These have a sturdy locking mechanism--I also tightened the screw on the mechanism-- and feel solid when I push hard with them.

I just took these poles on a 17-mile hike on the AT and will never hike without these poles again. The poles are lightweight, yet durable and the powerlock mechanism was flawless. Never once did the poles collapse under pressure. The Ergo grips are nice, but a little small for folks with big hands. However, the adjustable wrist restraints help make up for the smaller grips. Virtually impossible to quickly get your hands free of the wrist restraints on ascents, so I never tested the greptile surface. Nice wide baskets meant I never got the poles caught between two rocks or in deep snow.
