“Having used this same locking mechanism since the mid '80s in adjustable ski poles, I understand peoples irritation. You need to take these apart on a regular basis and clean and LIGHTLY!!! lube the spreader shaft(not pole shaft). By slightly bending the pole when tightening, you can get a very secure lock. Also, tighten regularly as you're walking. I have had zero trouble with mine and I find this locking method to be superior to others over the long term. Thanks for a great product.”
