This is my first poles. Now I can't go hiking without poles. I bought second pair for my friend. We love it. Even price. For me with Anti Shock better.

    Lightweight
    Cons:
Awkward hand grips, Collapses Too Easily, Each pole was different, No insturctions included

I was advised by a friend to get a set of trekking poles to take the weight off my knee when I went hiking. Maybe I should buy these at a local store so someone can demonstrate how to use them, but these had no instructions, each pole is constructed differently, the adjustment wasn't clear as to how anti-shock would be on or off, and it didn't appear that the height settings would hold once you started putting a little weight on them as there was no locking device. So I sent these back. If you know that these are exactly what you are looking for then the price is good, but for a novice trekking pole user, these are not the way to go. If anything they have just discouraged me from buying another set.

Great poles for the price. The shocks do make a difference gives you a little bounce. You don't always need the poles to hike but it gives you an arm workout you wouldn't ordinarily get from a day hike. These are my second pair I have bought and the recipient loved them too.

I have developed bad knees and a bad back over the years, so the staff at a local outdoors shop suggested trying trekking poles to ease some of the wear and tear on my body while hiking. After looking around at several high end and high priced models I saw these ones and thought "WOW. These look solid and are really cheap." Well, after I got them I found out WHY they were so cheap. I never even got to use them for hiking because when I was putting on the rubber tips that I ordered with them the pole snapped in two!!! I wasn't even putting my full weight on them(...and I only weigh 180 lbs). I was merely pushing the tips on to seat them securely and the cheap plastic shock absorber broke apart. I can't imagine what might have happened if I was out in the middle of a trail using this thing for support in a precarious situation. Take my advice and put a little extra money into your trekking poles and make sure they're well constructed.

I also recommend adjusting upper half of pole to longer adjustment so you do not put as much stress on lower half which would naturally be more vulnerable to damage. I'm not going to use these for snow shoeing since ice and water could damage them like any pole will stick with alpine poles for that. Really like these my Black diamonds were collapsing constantly so these are replacing them.
