great for hiking

I ordered these and the Leki Luau to check them both out. I have never used good hiking poles before, only the cheap heavy ones from [@]. I thought I would like the Leki's more because they have a great warranty and had a more low-key, neutral graphic, but I wanted to also test these since they had anti-shock and at a lower price.At first, I was put off by the feel of the cork grips on these - very hard and solid feeling, whereas the Lekis had a luxuriously cushy feel to the cork grips as well as very nice padded straps. But, I was actually more drawn to the Komperdell's beautiful blue compared to the Leki's somewhat bland graphic. As I tested them both in my living room, I noticed a little rattle with each pole plant on the Lekis, and the Komperdells felt solid with no rattle, both with and without the anti-shock on. That was the deal-breaker on the Lekis - I did not want to be the person rattling my way up the trail.So after deciding I'd take the lower-priced poles with anti-shock, I tested them on the trail. Very nice. The anti-shock is easy to set and is subtle, I don't put much weight on them so I hardly notice it - but I know they will do wonders on long descents. The hard cork grips didn't bother me since I have such a light grip while using them and I imagine they'll soften up with some sweat and oil from my hands over time anyway. Very happy with my purchase.

We used these poles on a 10-day trek in Nepal. These poles proved their worth on the multi-day treks up and down lots and lots of stone steps as well as up and down steep trails.

These tips wear down faster than I would have anticipated when used on asphalt, sidewalks and other common urban surfaces.

These fit my Komperdell Cork grip Antishock poles. Others have noted lack of durability, so I have added a small metal washer that fits snuugly inside to protect the bottom from the carbide tip of the pole, as is in the tips for my Mountainsmith poles. We'll see how they last. I mostly ue them to protect the car from the pole tips, but would use them on streets or a hike on a primarily rocky surface.

I live in Seattle, and used the gloves during the cold weather for cycling and jogging. I found that they were good, even in the heaviest rains, at keeping out water. In the coldest weather, my fingertips would occasionally get cold, but that went away as I warmed up. I tend to sweat a lot, and the condensation builds up in the gloves. I leave them over a vent at work to dry them out before my afternoon ride. They initially hurt a little between my fingers, but that went away quickly as they broke in.

Used these just today on an Oregon Coast Range Mt that still had 3 feet of snow. Extended the poles for touring up, then shortened for some tele turn in the meadows, then back to longer for the trip down. Very easy to adjust and good locking strength. Baskets interchange with other Komperdell baskets, a real plus.

Strong, light, functional. My only issue was that I lost a basket while hiking, but was lucky enough to find it by back tracking a few hundred feet. It may have been that I hadn't locked it on properly while installing it. I'd buy em again, and recc. to my friends.
