Reviewed by Talia from Phoenix, AZ on Wednesday, January 02, 2013I don't know just how accurate this device is in its measurements, but it is fun to observe fluctuations in temperature on items both indoors and out. Its housing is plastic, so it's not meant for anything that requires durability. Brand new and right out of the package, it didn't work. We found that all of the preloaded button batteries had leaked. After cleaning off the battery connections and installing brand-new batteries, it worked just fine.

Reviewed by Art from Boxboro, MA on Wednesday, July 04, 2012Found one corroded battery inside. Cleaned that out and still would not work. Had to place a shim in the battery compartment to hold batteries in place. Now it works fine. Tried calling LaCrosse customer service and could not get thru.

Tried everything, nothing worked to change to Farenheidt. Will flash temp quickly on display, but not hold temp. Obviously a defective product.

After using it for a particularly hot or cold measurement, give the unit time to come back to normal temperature before using it again.
