These are great shoes, I love the way they look. They are a little stiff at first.

This shoe cups your heel and truly prevents ankle rolls that commonly happen 4-8 times during a normal hike. Yet it is well balanced and light in its construction at the same time. I have taken this model on short easy hikes and rock infested vertical climbs and cannot say enough positive things about this shoe!

I used to always buy the classic, high ankle hiking boot. But, these almost always gave me bad blisters on the back of my heels. So, I decided to give these, shorter ankle hiking shoes. They've been wonderful! No blisters except when I wore a bad pair of socks that weren't made for hiking. They have great traction on muddy or soft ground, but they don't do so well on frozen ground. These shoes definetely aren't water resistant, and easily get wet. I haven't minded this at all when hiking in 50+ degree weather. But, when hiking through snow when it's less than 30, the snow on the top of the shoes melts and gets my feet wet. If I stop hiking, me feet will get quite cold. So, I've taken to wearing two pairs of good, wool socks.
