I can't disagree with all the wonderful reviews of this product by other users, but these boots just didn't fit my foot. I had to return the 5.5's for a pair of 5's - these boots are not sized "too small" for me as stated in other reviews and recommendations. The boots appear to be supportive enough for my needs and they were comfortable at the start. The design of the boot allows it to hinge at the ankle, but that presses the boot into the top of my foot when walking downstairs or downhill to the point where I know would be too painful for any actual hiking. I also noticed a pressure point on the inside of my foot just above the arch where a blister started to form while trying out the boots walking around the neighborhood.

I am using these boots for wildland firefighting. WOW! No break in period...period! Loving them. On my feet for 16 hours hiking, side hill, up and down...you name it. VERY comfortable and supportive. Highly recommend.

I am a tree climber. It is VERY hard to find a multi-functional, durable boot that doesn't take weeks to break in. This boot was pretty comfy right out of the box. Very good support for spending time in gaffs. Easy to footlock in, good grip on bark, and has great rands for protection from your climbing saw. For a supportive boot, it still has a lot of flexibility. Love 'em!

Where do I start? I got these in 2005 when I was augmenting the sniper scouts. I lost count how many times I was up and down harsh terrain with anywhere from 65 to 95 lbs on my back...and these under my feet. They offer fantastic traction, great warmth, and are ready to tackle the most rugged conditions. I would, however, recommend wearing thin-nylon socks beneath your normal hiking socks the first few times you wear these. It's now 6 years later and I still wear them almost every weekend on 5 to 10 milers. They're worn, but still kickin!

This boot is seriously tough. I break down boots super fast and wanted something to last for a month long adventure of serious use and I think I have found it. If you are like me and wear through leather boots in 1-2 years, than this is for you. Stiff to wear but solid to use. Not too hot, but warm enough.

I cannot begin to describe how wonderful these boots are. I purchased them two days prior to hiking a 14,000+ ft mountain. My last 14er hike involved a pair of Asolos, unimaginable knee pain, and multiple silver dollar size blisters. Needless to say, I was worried about the lack of a break-in with these boots, but I suited up with two pairs of socks and had one very small blister that disappeared the next day. Moreover, my knees didn't hurt, and the 1/2 shank was great for keeping my footing stable when traversing a granite boulder field. I typically wear a Women's 7.5 and ordered a 39 (not sure if these are universal) in the Men's glacier. It fit perfectly and I'm psyched to tackle another 14er with these on my feet!

Boot was made perfect with the addition of superfeet insoles. Other than the lack of arch support, an excellent boot that breaths very well and keeps your feet feeling good while burling through the wild.

Black Diamond's Serac Clip crampon was a good fit to boot sole footprint. Side points of Petzl equivalent (Vasek?) were further in from edges of boot sole.
I am not certain if flex bar is required for this boot. I am going to try with standard bar.

Great over all boot, break in takes a few miles. The boots are not as heavy as they look in the pictures. These are my first pair of La Sportiva's but I have to say I would buy a second pair.
