(Ref. my previous review regarding hole)
STP replaced my first pair, no problem. Received them end of Oct. '09. Wore these only about 9 or 10 times including 2 or 3 hikes in snow or rainy conditions, and already the water resistance is kaput. My feet were soaked today after 10 miles in melting snow and some light occasional drizzling (had gaiters on too). Traction remains great, pretty comfortable for my wide feet, but still very disappointing given the GorTex Waterproof claim...

I purchased these boots about a year ago and I have yet to wear them without coming home with blisters. I've worn them with all combinations of socks, insoles and finally started using duct tape on my feet to try to prevent the blisters. I am totally discouraged with the boots. If I'd have known they would never break in, I would have sent them back. Although they say they are water resistant, I generally come home with wet feet as well. I gave them more than a fair shot and unfortunately will have to shell out more money for a new pair of backpacking boots. Oh, and be prepared to stop and tie up your laces about every 20 minutes.

This brand is great for a narrower foot and heel. Although they are a bit heavy, my foot was comfortable immediately. Very cushiony around the ankles, yet held firmly in place. Light color does get dirty quickly, but I treated it with a stain protector and boots are supposed to look hiked in! I do hikes over varied/rough terrain for 6 or more hours and these boots are up to the task. I do add extra arch support, though, as my own preference.

I purchased these boots based on a friends' recommendation. I needed some backpacking boots for a trip that would take me camping out in the wilderness for 2 months. To break them in, it took about 5 good hikes. I still haven't gotten any blisters or achilies tendon which i am prone to get. The ankle support is effective with the softer material used for the ankle bone. I did have to use waterproofing spray and buy a different foot support because the one it came with didn't offer much. Overall, I would recommend this boot to others because the cons were easily fixed.
