I have been looking for a good pair of boots to wear for long day hikes and backpacking. These boots are very comfy from the start and have nice arch support. They start off a bit stiff, but are breaking in nicely. I like the laces - they are easy to tie and stay tight. These boots are all leather so they don't breathe as well as some, but worn with a good pair of socks they are OK. I usually wear a women's 9.5, but the size 9 fits perfectly. I sometimes wear a wide boot, but these are wide enough with plenty of toe room.

The boots are good for summer wear, as they are lightweight. Also good for a day hike. Seems very suportive; I have only used them for walking on groomed trails a couple of times and found them to be very comfortable.

These boots hugged my feet comfortably straight out of the box. My standard size 8 were perfect! Another brand boots were narrow in comparison. These boots reminded my of an old and reliable pair of Swiss-made Raichle boots I owned years ago. I wore these today on a 6-mile hike up a steep mountain and never felt any pain. Although stiff around the ankle, I prefer them this way. My feet remained dry over creek crossings. Excellent traction over loose and rocky terrain. My toes did not feel pinched hiking down the steep grade. No blisters, no hotspots. Perfect! I have found my perfect backpacking boot for this year. For people who don't like the blue color, a few polishings with black or brown shoe polish will darken the leather to a more natural-looking hue.

I haven't put them to a stress test but they are very comfortable. My feet are not wide, but not narrow either. Most other brands are a little wide for me and I have to pull the laces extra tight but these are a perfect fit. Sometimes a boot will last longer if it fits right. I wear a size nine. Other brands that I have are asolo, garmont, vasque and sportiva. I have to tighten laces completely on all those.

I usually wear a half size bigger in a hiking boot but bought my shoe size because the review said it runs half size small.I had to return it for a half size bigger because my toes were too close to the front of boot. Top of boot around tongue was stiff at first but started loosening up quickly. Haven't worn hiking yet.

Earlier reviews and product description noted that these are about a half size larger than sized, which is actually what I needed since I'm a 10W and wear heavy socks! These are nice looking, fairly sleek (for hiking boots) and, most importantly, totally comfortable; I was able to hike several miles while wearing them for the first time and experienced no discomfort. Best of all, they're even nicer than the hiking boots my ex-husband won't return to me!! One note: I prefer a stiffer boot, so keep that in mind if you prefer something with a more flexible foot and ankle "collar."
