“great runner-boot hybrid”

“Just like the description says, this shoe is a great blend of a trail runner and hiking shoe. I've only had it for a few weeks, so I cannot comment on durability, but it appears to be very well constructed. The outdry waterproofing was a big selling point for me. No wet days yet, but I soaked them for several minutes in the shower to test waterproofing, and it worked well. Dried very quickly - within a few hours. The soft uppers are comfortable, and the outsole seems to offer a good bit of stability. The shoes seem sturdy for hiking with a light pack, yet they feel nice running as well. I have a narrow heel and wide forefoot, and I like the lacing system for my feet. A note about fit - I got a size 11. They were a bit snug for me out of the box in the forefoot and toe box, and although there is no heel slippage, there is a good bit of room in the heel. I think a 1/2 size up would be too large. I wear 10 1/2 in most keens and in one pair of Patagonias (Cabot) I've worn; typically 11 in most other shoes because I need the extra width. If you have a wider than average foot you may want to consider going up a half size. I wore them for an hour or so indoors for several days, and they have broken in nicely. Also, the excellent deal at STP makes it a great value buy in my opinion.”
