Neck is plastic, not metal.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The bottle is made of aluminum, but the neck is plastic. I've only just begun to use it, but worry about the durability. The neck is the part of the bottle under stress when the top is clamped down, using the metal clamp (kind of like an old-fashioned top for a maple syrup bottle.)
