I fish salmon with it

I use this reel on my 10 foot 7 weight steelhead fly rod. Great choice for indicator fishing or stripping streamers. Can handle the abuse of going after steelhead in the hard winters we have in the Great Lakes region.

I use my Lamsoms - I own a few - primarily for saltwater fishing. The Velocity has a sealed, smooth and powerful drag, is corrosion and scratch resistant,and has high line capacity. Already fought 3 bonefish on this reel with no problems.

This is a very solid reel and an absolute steal at Sierra's VIP discount price.

A great reel at a bargain price. Reel is so light and compact, you can use it for smaller wt line than the ratings suggest. I just bought my second V3 - the first has 7wt line, and the new one will be spooled with 5wt nymph line - and the reel is still lighter than most models rated for 4-5wt. The entire reel at Sierra is the same price as just a spool elsewhere.

The Lamson innovation to minimize parts, lighten the design and be a true large arbor for quick line pick up is met with this reel. The push out spool saves numerous parts that could require maintenance. The Hard Alox process makes for a very attractive look and gives the metal surfaces a superior coating to fight off dings and scratches. The drag is smooth and totally sealed with the O rings. Drag is not affected by dunks in water nor dropped unto the sand. The only issue I have with it is the clicker. It's noisy going out and noisy reeling in. It's louder than even the old pawl systems.
