The length is shorter than some overcoats which makes it easier to get in and out of a car while wearing it. I bought it for my husband and he prefers wearing it without the belt, but it looks good that way, too. Be careful when ironing it, I made some shiny spots. You might need to use a pressing cloth. My husband wears a size 40 suit. We had to return the size 40R coat for a 42R, then the fit was great.

- Cons: Arrived wrinkled

I have ordered several coats from Sierra and have generally been satisfied. This one was an exception and has been sent back. Did not request larger size replacement.

Answer You should buy the 44 Long, the coat is cut to account for wearing a suit or blazer under it.

Answer You should buy your overcoat to fit your suit jacket, so I would recommend buying a 42L sized overcoat.

Answer I would suggest ordering a size larger than your suit size. We initially ordered a size 40R for my husband since that was his suit size, but it was too small especially across the chest. The size 42R fit great except that the sleeves are a tad too long.
