A nice basic overcoat. Like everything about it. What is unusual, verses others I have tried on in stores, is that the body is large enough, without the sleeves being too long. (The body is really 44-45" in the size L, and the sleeves about 34", whereas most manufacturers are going with the slim cut these days, even in overcoats.) Some reviewers either disliked the main pockets having a slit thru the lining to get to pants pockets. I find it is not a problem, as you have to deliberately snake your hand around the folds to get thru the lining, i.e., unlikely to ever drop something thru that slot by mistake. Jacket has one side entry interior pocket, and the lining has one large patch pocket - both on the left side. Belt has an extra inner strip, with button fastener, to keep the belt attached to one of the two loops. Buckle appears to be real leather covered.

this is truly a very fine garment but I was expecting a bit more warmth. Maybe I am comparing it to my last similar coat which was toasty warm (I live in SE Michigan) but, that is the one area in which it fell short. Oh well, I wear a sweater.

We moved from the south to the Olympic Peninsula in December and discovered we needed some rain attire having given ours away years ago. This is exactly what I was looking for. The warm liner will come in handy and it will be quite useful year round when visiting Seattle. Love Ralph Lauren products!

I'd wear this for casual and formal outings. With detachable liner, it can be good for 3 seasons, and length is long enough for Seattle's rainy days.

  • Question “How is size determined for rain/trench coats? I plan to wear a suit jacket or blazer under this, so let's say I wear a 42L in suit jacket (for shirts I am 16" neck and 33/34" sleeves). Would I order a 42R or 42L? Or do I have to size up to a 44 so I can fit my blazer under this?”
Asked on 4/20/2013 2:35:03 PM by RO from Massachusetts
    • Answer You would order the same size your wear in a suit jacket. Order the 42, the coat is cut to take in account that it is going to be worn over a jacket.

  • Question “Does this coat have just one button at the top or are there inside buttons for closure up the front?”
Asked on 10/30/2011 12:00:00 AM by Anonymous from Unknown
    • Answer There are five buttons from top to bottom. The buttons are hidden from view when the coat is buttoned up.

  • Question “My suit size is 42 short. What size coat do I order?”
Asked on 11/2/2010 12:00:00 AM by Rick in Fla from Unknown
    • Answer We have a size 44 left and you would need the short. It is the chest measurement, so you would want to check that and most likely will work to fit over clothes.

    • Answer Long enough to cover to the top of your knees, it is a nice coat for the money..I started looking at burburrys they were $ 1,700 this coat is a classic with a nicer price tag.
