Customer Reviews Of:
Lauren by Ralph Lauren Mini-Corduroy Sport Coat (For Men)

Closeouts. So smooth and fine, you'll scarcely believe it's corduroy except for its agreeable, velvet-like hand. Lauren by Ralph Lauren's mini-corduroy sport coat conveys an understated refinement that can often thrive in winter (with the help of a scarf and gloves) without having to wear a bulky overcoat.

I purchased this sport coat and the description is correct, it doesn't really look corduroy. I am a bodybuilder, so it is hard to find something that isn't tight around my arms and chest. This coat fit great!

True to size, great finish and materials. Replaced my obsolete jacket with this one.

This sporty coat has a casual look and it feel great. Sierra Trading Post offered a great discount with free shipping and it arrived when they said it would. However, I was surprised to learn that there were no outside pockets, just flaps. Why was this not mentioned in the product description? FYI, there are ample inside pockets. Not that it makes much difference these days, but it was made in China.

This is much preferable to standard or (ugh) wide-wale corduroy. I've worn it only once but felt at ease in the jacket while lecturing to a large class. Though late October it is still quite warm during the day, but by evening it is perfect for fall and early winter. As in the photo, it is nipped slightly in the waist to give it a mildly European flair but it is cut more generously true to the Ralph Lauren American Northeastern (wannabe) establishment standard. The shoulders are a bit too padded for my taste, but that will do. This garment is Made in China, but I would gladly pay more for Made In America clothing. I have several jackets in rotation so this one should last three to five years since the winters are relatively short and mild in this region. The color is neutral so it goes with any color in the blue to gray spectrum. I quit wearing jeans, but this jacket would look good with a non-saggy pair along with a pair of USA-made loafers. I have purchased a few jackets from Sierra and have had good luck so far as fit and style is concerned with only one or two exceptions. (One sport coat showed obvious signs of war and was limp as a dishrag; I returned it immediately which is relatively painless with the Sierra system of exchanges.) The Ralph Lauren coats are sized accurately and this one fit perfectly. Therefore, I will not have to spend more time and money to have it altered. There are so many variables in finding a nice sport coat that I wish to share my observations in this space. This Ralph Lauren Mini-Corduroy Sport Coat is on the way to becoming a personal favorite.
