purchased for kids, ages 10 and 13, for freshwater snorkeling in florida springs - worked great, fit great. May be too small for some adults.

Good mask and snorkel but the fin straps fall off pretty easily. We had to keep searching for them every time we moved the gear.

I always rent snorkle equipment when we travel and decided I'd invest in my own. I used this set on an extended trip to Maui and it doesn't measure up against high end rentals. The mouthpiece was to rigid and uncomfortable and in rough seas water leaked in through the spout. For occasional use it's fine but if your in the ocean a lot you'll be frustrated - I was.

Nice set picked up for my daughter. Appears to be good quality and price.

nice kit for the money, way nicer than most rental gear and cheaper for our mexico trip. out of 2 kits, 1 snorkel valve leaked so I had to buy a nicer [$] snorkel/worth every cent. I'll save the faulty one for deep powder days since returning it alone is not an option with STP, my wife got 1 small blister from fins/overall comfortable. mask was not comfortable and did not leak

They probably work fairly well in open water, but if manipulated, walked with, even backwards, some heel straps can easily come off. I think the manufacturing is inconsistent here, because one of my heel straps could not even come unbuckled, but the other kept popping off until it finally got lost. You might get lucky and get two good ones.

excellent quality very adjustable

This product is a good deal for the price you pay. Nothing too fancy for beginners, but performs well. I use them in our pool, as well as lakes. You have good vision through the mask, the tempered glass makes everything nice and clear. The only "con" I have noticed is that the closure of the mask, below the nose, can leak a little. But technique can take care of that.

Note: I actually got the extrema II professional, which I think is simply the new version of this. I'm assuming everything still applies. I was wondering why this cost 2x as much as the U.S. Divers model, and hoped it was consequently better made. However, I really don't think it is, and it's significantly less comfortable. The facemask doesn't fit larger faces well, and the hard plastic section presses into the bridge of your nose (and cramps your nostrils). The fin straps are difficult to adjust. And the clip that attaches the snorkle to the mask presses uncomfortably into the side of your head. (And is very difficult to adjust/use.) Not sure why a set that costs twice as much as a cheaper competitor ends up being more poorly made. I'm very disappointed -- I wanted to like this b/c I like the color scheme better than the boring blue U.S. Divers colors -- wish they still made the cool yellow-green model from 2005.
