Just broke these in a few days ago with a day hike to the top of Charleston peak in southern Nevada. 17 mile round trip with 4500 ft of elevation gain. Recently started using trekking poles on my hikes, what a difference! takes LOTS of strain/stress off the knees both climbing and descending, and great for helping keep your balance too. Had an older cheaper set of poles, but constantly worked loose, no such problems with these poles, and the grip/ wrist straps were very well designed.

  • Question “The description indicates these are 3-section poles, but the picture shows only one lock on each pole..if they are 3-section poles, it would seem there should be 2 locks on each pole (for what its worth, this model is shown on other retailer sites with 2 locks on each pole). Can you clarify? Thanks”

  • Question “how sturdy are these - How much stronger is aluminum compared to other materials? They are for a man about 140 pounds - for Vermont rocky uphill trails. Thank you t”
Asked on 7/26/2012 12:00:00 AM by Janet from Burlington, VT, United States
    • Answer Aluminum is a very strong/light material. Leki has a great reputation for making some of the best trekking poles in the world. I would highly recommend purchasing a Leki product. As far as weight and terrain go, I'm 6' 169 lbs and I have a very similar pair of poles that I use in the Rocky Mountains.
