I had trekking poles that you twisted to adjust, but when snow shoeing they would collase in cold weather. The locking system on these are great in cold weather.

    • Answer Not a spongey soft but a smooth rubbery hard. Hiked for 3 hours with them and didn't get blisters.

    • Answer They are not really soft, but still comfortable. You get a rubber-ish feel. Very sturdy and stable.
