I have OA in my left knee due to a biking accident years ago. I needed a cane or walking stick but I wanted lightweight and the ability to fold down to fit inside a briefcase or small daypack. This fits the bill. BTW, I previously bought the Komperdell version of this hiking stick, with suspension. That recently broke into two pieces at one of the plastic joints inside the aluminum shaft. Moral of story: Buy the Leki and forget about the suspension version. This has plenty of flex as it is for the bad joint and, unlike the Komperdell, it feels LOCKED all the time. No worries about it slipping.
