A nice addition to your 72 hour or bug-out kit. Knife is plenty sharp and the firesteel is locked-in to the knife handle. Typical functional plastic knife sheath, not exciting but it does the job. As my wife found out, be careful about where both your hands are when taking the knife out of the sh... Read More

I've got mora knives and I've got flint but I didn't have both in one package till I bought this light my fire knife. I'm heading out into the woods this coming August and will have a chance to try it out then. I like the construction as it is a Mora. It does have a more hollow grind up towards the tip which my others mora knives don't. I think that will be better when I am dressing out game while bowhunting or fishing.

I have been using this knife for two years now. The pros are it's great all around camp knife, light, sharp, multi-use. The con is that to use it effectively to start fires and split some wood/batoning you need skills for those tasks beyond food prep and cutting fishing line, etc. it's a bit light weight and the blade length is good for many things but it's a bit short for others. It's nice to have the firestarter in the handle but it does require some skill to use. The firestarter is small, larger rods work easier. All in all, it's good and Mora is a great brand, very solid and worth the money. Really nice for a spare knife in the pack or car camping/fishing trip.

I just went on an overnight backpacking trip to the coast in northern california. I used this knife for the first time. I slices right through stuff. Used it on plastic, wood, steak, etc and it just melted through. The knife clicks into the sheath and has a good secure fit. The firestarter twists into the handle. Great knife.

  • Question “does the knife float?”

Asked on 12/29/2013 8:44:29 PM by Miles from Buffalo NY
    • Answer No.

In the interest of science, I filled up the kitchen sink and found the following for the Light-My-Fire-Swedish-Fireknife:
      Sheath by itself: Floats
      Knife by itself: Sinks
Knife + Fire Steel together: Sinks
Knife+ Fire Steel + Sheath: Sinks

      Hope this helps!
