    No, I would not recommend this to a friend
    I ordered this as a gift (to put a coffee gift card in) and was disappointed by the incredible weight of the thing. Be aware that the exterior is ceramic- I think it might weight more than a pound-- empty. Attractive, but not practical as a travel mug which is what I'd hoped it might be useful as. Have no experience with it's heat/cold retaining properties.
