They are just all round great socks. They are thin enough that I also wear them with other shoes and boots.

I got these because they were a steal of a deal for 75% merino wool-silk blend. I appreciate the higher percentage of natural fibers. However, I will say that these appeared to me to obviously be "seconds" with minor imperfections, like the way the knitting lined up in some places was mismatched- at first I thought there was as snag (hole), but it is just they are somewhat not the highest quality manufactured.

Also they are somewhat thin, which was actually preferred for me as I like to layer them and also wear them under slim fitting tall boots where bulky socks would not do. But if you are wearing them for X-country skiing, you may be disappointed. So far, I think they are pretty warm and I did wear them overnight camping when it was about 40 degrees out and my toes were plenty toasty! I think for longer periods in the outdoors, like over an hour, as winter comes along and temps really drop, I would layer them- but if you are only walking outdoors for 5 or 10 minutes in the winter i think they would be fine- and also not stifling when you come indoors. I like that they go over my calf, giving me extra warmth but not making me sweat when i am indoors most of the day.

I wear a 6.5 and the small fit perfectly. Probably would not fit much larger than a 7 though. My kids really liked them and my daughter who wears a size 1 was able to wear them, too. So if you have a child who wears size 1 or up, these would work for them, too.

Having silk in these wool socks should make them last longer. They are also lighter than the Lorpen wool socks. Haven't actually worn them yet.

I think they're a good sturdy sock. However, when I saw the word "silk", I thought, "Soft, smooth." I thought wrong. For me these socks are a little too rough. However, they might be very good for another person. I'll probably give them away. At least they weren't super expensive.

I love these socks: wear them every day. They're a perfect weight and warm, without bulking up shoes.
    • Pros: Warm Thin Soft
