Nice sock so far, only worn for about a month, though. Some of the design features are a little strange and may not be of benefit concerning the different types of fabric & patchwork? The 2nds feature comes-in with some irregular stitching joining the bottom of the foot area to top part of foot. Length goes about to the knee, a long sock. Good for warm weather fly fishing & will wick nicely with the silk. Not much/any cushioning in the bottom of the sock, but wears fine so far. Time will tell the rest of the story.

Silk & Lycra(R) are two tough elements to beat. The silk feels great & the Lycra(R) keeps them where they're supposed to be, at least in the Over-The-Calf styles I buy. The only reason I didn't rate them the full 5 Stars is that their longevity might be negatively effected by the deformities that make them 2nds. Only time will tell but their being 2nds is also why they're priced low enough for me to try them too... Nonetheless I've since ordered several other Lycra(R) complimented Lorpen 2nds varying from "SuperLightWeight" all the way up to "HeavyWeight" & I'm hoping all of those will also be as good as these seem to be.

I wanted a thin ski sock without any bulky padding. These let me feel my boot without any slippage caused by the sock. They fit snug and don't lose their shape, even after long hard days of instructing. I have four pair of these and have yet to notice why they are seconds - what a great deal.

There is a hole in the toe of 2 of the 4 men's large socks. So you better know your way around a sewing machine.

    • 2, yes 2. As of the S-T-P order I received on 12\02\11 which were the Navy\gray heather, sized medium (Item #3501Y-01-M). I expected a single pair but received a two-pair pack, for a total of 4 single socks. As mentioned in my product review of these socks.

    • If you scroll over the sizes you will see the related shoe size. As you are right on the border of sizes I would go down to a S.
