These shoes have stiff soles and are comfortable and supportive for long walks, like my last pair of Lowa shoes. I have walked in them about 10 miles thus far, and they needed no break-in. I have narrow heels and low volume feet and they fit me well. They were well made in Italy. With their neutral color and design, and gore tex waterproofing these will be great shoes for travel. I am pleased with this purchase.
