Have worn 1st pair over a year (several hundred miles) on 5-mile daily walks on dirt paths, trading off with other footwear. Noticeable wear, but plenty of tread left on the Vibram soles. Extremely comfortable. Up-sized from my usual 10.5 to size 11 for perfect fit for my narrow C/D-width, low-volume feet. Some initial slippage on my narrow heels, but soon corrected with use and lace adjustments. Might not work for those with wide feet. Breathable, not waterproof. Good for 3-season wear. I wear my Asolo mid-high Fugitives (from STP) for more demanding trails and winter or wet weather. Just bought 2nd pair of Jannu's from STP because of [...] great price. My only gripe is the Jannu's look more like fashion shoes than trail footwear (they are actually excellent for trail use). Not a problem, of course, if I keep my eyes on the scenery and enjoy the comfortable ride.

It's difficult to find shoes like this that aren't made in China so I was thrilled when I found them. The cost is well worth it for these shoes. I haven't seen low rise shoes with a sole like this before - they are basically as stiff as a trekking boot. The soles aren't made of spongey foam like a lot of trail shoes, so I expect them to last several years. The outsoles are extremely aggressive, with large lugs. If they were Gore-Tex they would be about the most versatile shoes on the market. They seem warm yet still breathable. I plan to wear them on the trail, on the way to work in the winter, and any other time I need a comfortable shoe with good support.
