Some internal seams were roughly finished and cut into the foot during use, causing pain and discomfort.

Probably an exceptional shoe, but because the width is so narrow (even though I sized up), I will have to return them. This is magnified by the fact that one would wear a thick sock with this type of shoe.

I'm going to buy another pair as soon as the price is right. I've had 2 pairs. Color fades too quick and the inside of heel material wears out quick, but the shoe is worth the shortcomings. Best shoes I've had.

Lowa makes great products. I also like the fact that these shows are made in Europe. For some reason Footwear made in Europe and North America fits me better. I was looking for a pair of day hikers that would be equally comfortable as an every day footwear. Most of the shoes I have seen in this category came with EVA midsoles and pretty shabby outsoles. I am not a fan of EVA midsoles. EVA is good in a running shoe (or trail runners) but they lack in durability in any other types of hiking shoes compared to PU. I like the fact that these shoes came with PU and has great vibram soles. The Vialta soles that Lowa put in these shoes are a good balance between flexibility (easy mobility), cushion, protection, and comfort. The moderately shallow lugs grips on various types of trail surfaces. They performs equally well on urban streets too. Every features of these shoes performs well for me...the lacing system, arch support, heel cup, etc. The only issue I have with these shoes are - The upper leather is not very water resistant. after a 30 minutes walk in the rain the leather got wet and it took me a while to dry out the shoes. Also, during really hot summer days they get a bit hot. Some mesh panels on the sides of the boots could significantly improve the breathability. Although, I like the comfort of all leather upper with minimum stitching. I like these shoes. They are a touch narrow. while they fit me perfectly, I can not (nor do I want to) wear thick socks with them.

I love Lowa shoes and the Tempest 2 is no exception. It grips like a champ in muddy conditions and trail scrambles nicely. I also like that it is European made(Slovakia).

Lowa make the best hikers for arid regions. I hike the Grand Canyon every day. My last pair lasted all year with over 150 day hikes and many backcountry trips. **note** these are labeled "narrow" but they fit just like my egular pair***

I have an older version of the Tempest & it has been one of my favorite all-time shoes. I can't wear them out & they are very supportive. I have med-high arches & it's hard to find a good fit. I like the all leather upper. I note they are a little heavy, but this is probably part of why they last so well. Getting another pair of the current version.
